Focus on Imaging 2009
Focus on Imaging 2009

I attended the Focus on Imaging exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham on Monday. It was a pretty excellent show, lots to do and lots to see! This is my favourite shot from the day, taken with the Canon 200mm F2 L IS USM. The subject to background separation of this lens is pretty incredible. [...]

Landscapes III
Landscapes III

Welcome to the last instalment in this landscapes series. I hope you’ve enjoyed it! The top image here is my favourite of the series. These two images were shot at Barton Hills National Nature Reserve – Barton le clay. There were a couple of rejects from this series that you can view on my flickr.

Landscapes II
Landscapes II

I’m pretty sure that these don’t count as landscapes, they’re more like nature shots! However, I like them and want to share them. They were taken on the same day and at the same location as the shots in part III of the landscapes series.

Landscapes I
Landscapes I

I hadn’t done any landscape photography in a while and the weather was looking pretty good so I decided to go out and see what I could find! This is the first instalment a 3 part series.

Barton Rovers FC
Barton Rovers FC

I’m not a football fan in the slightest but as I was on my way home I noticed that the floodlights were on at my local ground and decided to take a diversion. Nothing too exciting was happening, just a training session. Still, I haven’t shot a lot of sport so I took the opportunity to get some practise!

Sweet Grapes
Sweet Grapes

Slightly different format to todays post. I was feeling bad as I haven’t posted in a few days, I thought you deserved more than one image! I tried a random technique that I’m pretty sure I didn’t invent to create these photos.. Using a computer monitor as a background! Pretty simple but I find it [...]

A Bit Late for Christmas?

I think that it may be a little late for Christmas themed images, however the red gift bag sat next to these wine bottles really caught my eye so I thought I’d share it.

Eagle Eye
Eagle Eye

I used the 5DII’s Live View feature to capture this shot. I find that Live View is really great for capturing subjects that are positioned in such a way that you can’t easily bring the viewfinder to your eye to see the shot. I initially considered cropping the top and bottom of this shot, as [...]

The Bathroom Exercise

I was once told that a great way to learn to find interesting subjects anywhere is to lock yourself in the bathroom (or any other room) for an hour and just search for photographic opportunities. Once the hour is up, leave the room, grab your camera and take 3 pictures. What we have here is [...]

More B&W Filmy Gorgeousness

I was just wandering around the house, looking for a subject to capture when I noticed the streak of light shining on this packaging. I’m beginning to enjoy photographing pretty much any subject as long as there is a great quality of light. I took the colours out of this image as I felt that [...]
